*Books for Josephine are a problem. Many are not translated. Josephine is known for making up stories about herself, so I take with a grain of salt any books that she has had a hand in writing. The Hungry Heart was researched and dispels many myths 
about her. If I ran into conflicting stories, I chose The Hungry Heart’s version. The 
Many Faces of Josephine Baker is written for youth.
