High Plains Chautauqua

Chautauqua fundraiser features Alexander Hamilton
Reservation deadline is Oct. 28

High Plains Chautauqua will present “An Evening with Alexander Hamilton: 18th Century Answers to 21st Century Problems” Saturday, November 5, 7:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick Presbyterian Church in Greeley. Dr. Hal Bidlack will portray Alexander Hamilton, one of the most important Founding Fathers, whose vision and spirit continue to dominate American culture and economy today.

The event is a fundraiser for High Plains Chautauqua. Tickets are $75. The evening includes a wine reception with hors d’oeuvres and the presentation with Mr. Hamilton, followed by dessert and champagne.

Since 1996, Dr. Bidlack has appeared before radio and live audiences nationally portraying Alexander Hamilton and has been referred to as “the nation's leading Hamilton theatrical performer.” Lieutenant Colonel Bidlack is a retired career officer in the United States Air Force with a doctorate in political science.

Event organizer and volunteer Ron Edgerton said, “Many of the issues our nation is grappling with today with respect to the powers accorded the federal government were hotly debated by our Founding Fathers. Hamilton’s perspective, elegantly delivered, is sure to help inform our thinking.”

Dr. Edgerton also serves on the steering committee for High Plains Chautauqua. He said that the program line-up for the 2012 High Plains Chautauqua will be announced at the event.

The fundraiser will take place at the St. Patrick Presbyterian Church, 803 10th Avenue in Greeley. Tickets must be purchased in advance by Oct. 28 from the Greeley Convention and Visitors Bureau, 902 7th Avenue, 970-352-3567.

Colorado High Plains Chautauqua is a free, five-day festival of history and theatre that is produced by Greeley community members in partnership with the Colorado Humanities annually in August.
